Ren Lynn King

The first thing almost everyone notices about Ren is her outlandishly rainbow-colored hair. Indeed, this is where the snobby joke turned nickname, Rainbow Brite, people call her came from. Her hair is always colored in a rainbow pattern, though the colors do fade out if she's not keeping them up and a little of her dark roots peek out. The rainbow colors of her hair don't stop there though! It seems she is a fanatic about color and her arms and neck are always loaded up with a variety of random jewerly and baubles. She loads her arms up with bracelets in every bright color you can think of, with many necklaces adorning her neck. She also loves bright colored clothes and is often seen in tees depticing her favorite bands, LGBT pride or TV shows she loves. As for footwear she tends to be in anything rainbow, platform or Converse.

When you look at her, she almost reminds one of a troll doll. She's very short, standing at only 5'4" (barely) with a thin, pixie-like frame. She's usually sporting a variety of scars, bruises and abrasions on her medium-tanned skin from her clumsiness. Her wild hair tends to have a mind of it's own and it's not uncommon for it to be sticking out at all angles. She keeps it cut short most of the time, though has occasionally allowed it to grow out. A smile always seems to grace her features and her intensely blue eyes catch the sun and sparkle. She's always got some sort of wild makeup on that just adds to her almost cartoon-y appearance.

Well, let's just say Ren is a very, very hyper child. See, Ren suffers from A.D.D. that sometimes is so intense she appears to vibrate in her chair at school. Loud and vibrant you hear her almost before you see her. It's like she is a living, breathing Energizer Bunny that has far too much energy to be healthy. Of course the Monster energy drinks she's usually seen with only intensifies the hyperactivity she struggles with. She reminds one of a puppy (no pun intended), hyper and innocent but with a streak of mischief a mile long. She's an optimistic person who tries to see the good in every situation and is always quick to point out things could be worse. She never seems to stop talking either, which can quickly get irritating to other kids.

She's a rebel in the sense she doesn't seem to fit in anywhere, but fits in everywhere at the same time. She can't be labeled and doesn't bother caring about social higherarchies, but hangs out with whomever she pleases and seems to adapt to any social situation. She's got a dramatic personality, though given she's often hanging out with theater kids and drag queens (due to her big brother Will being one) it's to be expected. She's got a personality too big for her tiny body, and depending on how much time she's been spending with the Queens she can be mouthy and bitchy too. She doesn't mean to be, of course, but it appears there's no brain to mouth filter on this kid. Whatever comes to mind comes out of her mouth. Perhaps this is why she's been public enemy number one with the popular girls.

Intelligence isn't something she lacks either. She's got a 176 IQ and is a very quick learner despite her A.D.D (so long as it's not related to math!). Something that fascinates her teachers. She's a sophomore but has already been placed in AP English and an AP Psychology class she takes at a nearby college. They're looking to put her into AP science too. She's a bright kid who was far advanced for her age in terms of how quickly she learned. Though she does often make careless mistakes because she rushes through her work. And she does tend to become...destructive when she's bored.

Ren was the second born of children with parents who couldn't be more opposite. The two met in high school where her mother was a beautiful human girl who was a hippie and artist, whereas her father was a good ol country boy who was the star of the football team. The high school sweethearts married three years after they graduated and in another four had their first born, William, whom Ren has always been close to. By the time Trenton and Willow had Ren they'd moved to the pro-gay community of South Beach, Florida where she was raised until she was nine years old. Her mother was very active in the LGBT community and her father was supportive of Willow's many sociopolitical causes. Her father got involved with a large pawn chain that moved the family to Massachusetts where they landed in Provincetown. This is where Ren's quirky personality really seemed to blossom.

Growing up in these two LGBT-friendly communities she had a passion for the community from a young age. And at age ten when she saw Rocky Horror Picture Show it spawned an adoration for drag and she quickly began spending a lot of time at the local drag club. Her brother was also interested in drag and came out of the closet at fourteen, though the family knew from the time he could toddle that he was gay. Will began immersing himself in drag around that same time and took on the stage name Helen Heels and became quite the small-time celebrity. During this Ren met a boy named Paul who became her first boyfriend. The boy was tan, althetic, charming and had her swept off her feet in just a few weeks. Of course, this wasn't going to be the perfectly blissful relationship she'd dreamed of. Eight months after they began dating Paul took Ren to the beach to hang out one afternoon. He told her of a cave he'd found down the beach and asked if she'd come with him. When she agreed they raced to see who could get to the cave first and went inside. He showed her a beautiful waterfall in the cave and she sat down to rest. It was seconds before he was on top of her, kissing her. When she playfully shoved him away he didn't take it so well. He held her down and raped her, the waterfall covering her screams.

After that the mere mention of sex broke her out in hives and has caused her to be completely closed off in that manner from others. She didn't let it depress her though, instead she hacked off her long, blonde hair and dyed it the colors of the rainbow. She changed her wardrobe, got involved with her brother's drag career and began doing makeup to keep her mind occupied. She even got involved in junior roller derby! Her thought being that if she could make herself stick out she could never be forgotten and by toughing herself up with roller derby she would never be taken advantage of again. Thankfully her father was reassigned again, this time to Chicago, where the family moved just six months ago to a lovely little house just outside the city. Ren has thrown herself into various school functions and into the smaller drag community as a ways of leaving the past behind her. She's determined to find a new life in Chicago, and has vowed to leave Paul and those memories behind her. Though she has a feeling Paul isn't done with her yet.
